Switch 4-7-2006
Tonight was pretty cool, despite the fact that all but one of my female leaders were gone. They had all gone to a Deborah Generation conference, which is a conference for women that feel called to ministry. It’s actually a really cool thing. It also landed on the same night as Switch, making things a little rough for us, but we managed.
As usual, we had more girls than guys, and more guy leaders than we REALLY needed. But I asked Kelly Navilhon to help out, and she did great. I also had to ask Javier to come and run the cafe, which he did fine.
Worship was pretty good, and I am intentionally cutting them shorter to leave time for the Word. I am discovering that the Word is the most important part of the night, as that is where the real depth is being deposited in them. We did a new song called “The Stand.” It was pretty awesome.
I preached part 1 of a who knows how many parts message called “What kind of play doh are you?” I talked about Jeremiah going down to the Potter’s house to watch him mold the clay. I described how we are like play doh and that we are to allow God to mold us into whatever He wants us to become. It was…good, but deep. Too much explanation, not enough illustration. I gotta remember that these are Jr. Highers, and need more examples.
Can’t wait for the next one though. It should be pretty awesome.
