Switch v.2
// September 10th, 2006 // All, Ministry, Switch
This week Switch starts. Am I excited? Heck yes I am! Last year, Switch was instantly a success with the Jr. Highers. We launched it at the beginning of the school year, and it ran until the end of the school year. It was a lot of work for us, but also a lot of fun for the leaders and the students as well.
We spent a great deal of time evaluating what we did last year and made the necessary tweaks to make Switch even better this year. A major change we did was moved the service from every other week to every week. That will provide more consistency with the students, as we go every week. This will also help us to connect with them even more.
Another major change we did was completely drop the “hang out” time before the service. We looked at it, and ultimately decided that it was a good thing, but not totally necessary. It wasn’t quite accomplishing what we had intended it to. So instead, we start at 7pm and kick right into the service.
The small groups are going to be a major focus this year. We want the leaders to really connect with the students, and really take a mentor role with them, moreso than before. The team I have this year is top-notch, and I think they will do a fantastic job of doing that.
Andrew is leading worship, which is something that kind of was happening at the end of Switch last year. I want him to be able to take that entire area, and just run with it. That is his gifting and his passion, and he just needs to learn to do it. What better a place than for Switch?
So I’m really excited, we’ll see what God does.
