At Hell's Gate

27 Oct

This last Wednesday and Thursday was Innerface’s “At Hell’s Gate.” Needless to say, it’s the BIGGEST outreach that Innerface does all year, and this year was no exception. Over the two nights, over 120 people came to Christ. It was absolutely awesome! As crazy as it sounds, I love this time of year, mainly because the last several have had some sort of outreach of this type and magnitude. And every year, more and more souls come to Christ. It’s amazing.

This is the first year, however, that I was not as involved as in the previous years, both here at Innerface as well as the Phenomenon days. In fact, I had ZERO involvement this year, due to some changes are soon to come, Lord willing. I don’t want to talk about them just yet, but they are coming. It was kind of strange and even a little surreal watching At Hell’s Gate this year, having played the main part of the devil last year. I sat in the back, making sure kids weren’t being disruptive, and watched as the drama progressed. I sat and watched as scene after scene went by, and then Lynn sharing her testimony afterward, concluded then by Matt with the altar call and many coming to Christ. It was truly incredible to sit on the sidelines and watch.

Frank played the part of the devil this year, and did a phenomenal job. For Cornerstone, he is the original devil, playing the part for Interview with the Devil in the years before I came. This was no exception, he played the part very well (and his voice is deeper than mine). I did get the occasional, “How come you aren’t in it this year?” Well, Frank needed to play the devil. I would say that he needed to have the “we still care and want you to be a part of this ministry” from Matt and Lynn. And it doesn’t hurt my ego any to let someone else equally as talented, if not moreso, to play that role. Once again, he did a fantastic job.

It was truly an awesome night, and I always love being a part of what God is doing, even if it’s being security for the two nights. Sidenote: On the last night, I stood in the last line that was at Hell’s gate, and Lynn walked right by me to “win some.” What is that?!?!? Then Matt tells me later that he was gonna let the devil take me right on in to Hell. Love you too, Matt! Ha! (It was all a joke, they wouldn’t REALLY let me go to hell).
