What an incredible night. It’s amazing how God works sometimes. The only POSSIBLE explanation of the night’s events is that God showed up.

It seemed like everyone was late. Even me. I showed up around 2 (about 30 minutes late), and Richard came around 2.30. The rest of my team were mostly late. Half of my band was late. But the goodness and soveriegnty of God was incredible. The service started as usual with hang out – play time. But once worship started, there was something totally different. Amazingly, the worship band messed up many times (me included!) during our set, but God began moving as soon as we moved into the “slow songs.” We started with “Til I see You” and it blew me away how fast the presence of God just showed up. Students that seemed so hard to me were worshipping, and many started tearing up. Some of them were even praying for their friends and seeing God move. By the time we got to the last song (2 songs later), many of them were totally just going for it.

Then the Holy Spirit spoke to me to have students that just wanted God to come to the altar (many of them were already there). As the leaders moved through the altar, God was touching them like crazy, many of them before we even touched them ourselves. It was amazing.

Afterward, I was going to preach, but I just wanted to get feedback on what God was doing. So I asked them how many of them just needed God at that moment, and many of them raised their hands. I then asked them what it was that God was doing in them, to build their faith and to show them that God can touch them at a very young age. It totally rocked. Many of them said that they were going through stuff, and that God had given them strength, confidence, and had restored their faith.

One girl in particuar named Sarah was totally touched by God. The amazing thing was this. She is in 6th grade, and she said that she had been doubting her faith because of different things. But God had touched her like she had never felt before. What blew me away was the fact that she is so young, and is starting to doubt her faith. I didn’t start doing that until high school. God is so good.

The awesome part about the whole thing is the fact that I know what happened last night was genuine. I know a lot of these students, and the stuff that happened last night can’t be faked. Especially at this age. They don’t know how to fake it yet. Another cool thing is seeing how many of them are experiencing God in ways that they never thought possible. One girl said that she felt God so strong, that she just knows that God is with her, always was, and always will be.

Thank you Lord.

Even though last night’s numbers were down, we still had an awesome night. One of the student’s sister threw a Valentine’s Day party, so many of our regulars attended that instead of Switch.

We had about 18 students, a drop from our regular 25. But that’s ok. It was still an awesome night. God totally moved at the altar during worship. But I’ll get into that in a moment.

The band showed up ON TIME this time, much to my shock. Due to that, we got enough practice time in before the students showed up. We’ve been doing 5-6 songs during the worship time, I think I am going to cut that down to 4. Up until the worship and message time, the time is like clockwork. But after that, worship seems to go on a little longer. Then of course my message never stops at 20 minutes.

During the “Hang out” time, Jason Buchanan started tossing the football around, and of course, all of the guys join in. Eventually, the game became “Smear the queer.” I think I enjoyed watching one of our smaller guys attempt to jump tackle Jason, who is easily 5 times bigger than him. And of course, Jason is an experienced tackler. As the student flew into the air to nab Jason, he gets straight armed and literally flies into the air before hitting the ground. It was fantastic.

Worship was great. At first, the guys rushed the altar area to jump around. Pretty normal. The girls always take a little longer to get into it. But by the time we did our third song, “King of Majesty,” the girls started getting into it. Towards the end of worship, the Holy Spirit spoke to me about them getting things right with Him. It was awesome.

I spoke on God’s Word, and to be honest, it was difficult to write. Speaking was easy, but making the Word of God interesting to Jr. Highers was quite a challenge. Not that the Word isn’t interesting, but to make it interesting to them. I think I did decently, and I knew they were getting it as I spoke. Thank you Jesus.

Switch was awesome this week! We had a total of 30 attenders, with 11 of them being visitors. It was pretty awesome. Of course there were the games and whatnot. Many of the guys STILL like to beat Richard Mason up (I gotta figure out a way to get them to stop).Worship was pretty awesome, except right when we started, my voice started cutting out. I had just been coughing right before we started. But after the first song, it came back. I am starting to have Andrew Pak lead more, as he will be taking over the worship by the end of the school year. After my series on worship, a lot of the guys are just getting it. The girls are too, but this week, the guys just went after God. It rocked.

Continuing the series on the basics, this week we talked about prayer. I had Jason Buchanan speak, and he did an excellent job. He talked about what prayer is and whatnot, but during his message, his phone kept ringing (of course it was staged). Eventually he answered it, and it was “God” just wanting to talk to him. It was pretty cool. During the small group time at the end, we had them talk to God themselves. Overall, it was a great night.
